My husband and I belonged to a church with the same issues and we left after 3 years. We were board members and on the board were members that were "running" the church. As Christians, we need to let Jesus move in a church and when we do not let that happen, there is usually an exodus out of that church. To this day, It is still the same and they are still losing more people because they won't trust God enough to let Him move. I can't give any good advise here except pray for that fellowship and for the individuals that seem to think it is "their" church and not God's.

I have a good topic:
A church in an affluent neighborhood that has been Traditional, with over 40 % of the members being over 55, brings in Praise and Worship music.
For the first couple of years, their biggest struggle was finding the right Worship Director. When they did, it had a "Cutting edge Praise team". I went to a couple of services with my friends there, and they were awesome.
There was a lot of grumbling going on in the background though, and when the director moved, his replacement was told to take 3 steps back... the music was TOO offensive to some. After 2 -1/2 years, they were still so far back, and the music got so bad that the only musicians that were there from the beginning all left! These musicians were there for 9 years, and JT said it always sounded good before.
I am reluctant to give any advice to my friend, especially since he is on one of the Boards at his church, and He said it gets really political at meetings...
No one can please everyone, but doesn't it sound like a case where a few checkbooks were doing more talking than the committees in charge were.
And I always thought all the talking should have came from "Scripture"?
I told him, "Isn't the music supposed to be for Jesus not for them?
curious on your thoughts on this one...
My friends who belong to this church, have recently been showing up at our church... a lot!
Anyone else got any opinions on what's going on there? and is it a common problem any where else?
